I started building scolana for Living School shortly after my son started attending that school, when staff were overwhelmed by enthusiastic parents seeking the best possible education for their child. I was sad that the bright minds running the school were trapped in tedious administration duties when they wanted to devise innovative, joyful, playful and effective new ways to educate my child and help him become the wonderful person he is.

Having the relevant skills, I offered to put together a little site that would streamline their admissions process and drastically increase productivity while decreasing workload. Soon, it was clear that this solution was needed more widely – in 2011 many, many schools still manage admissions by paper, a slow, tedious, and error-prone approach – even though 2011 is supposed to be The Future!

I quit my bank job in order to focus more intensely on product development. I needed to find a revenue-generating activity that was in line with my personal values – Right Livelihood, as Buddhists say. Scolana is that activity. I am energised and motivated to know that schools are working more effectively, more joyfully, because of my work.

I update my blog occasionally, mostly with technical articles.
